Ray Brown
Ray Brown was born in Belfast, UK, and educated there and at the University of Oxford (BA French and Spanish) and University of Reading (MA Applied Linguistics). He spent a number of years teaching and managing educational projects worldwide for the British Council and during that time lived in Europe, West and Central Africa (ten years), North Africa (four years), South Asia (six years), Egypt (two years), East Asia (four years), South America (four years), the former Soviet Union (four years) and China (two years). This gave him a wide knowledge of different cultures and different value and belief systems which contributes to the authority he is able to bring to the book, the result of many years of travel, study, discussion and reflection, meditation and a need to share his reflections.
All the time Ray has been trying to find answers that do not depend on belonging to one or other religion. He believes that the strengths of the book are that, belonging to no church, he does not bring to it a bias in terms of belief. Nor does he bring an academic background to the subject, but simply offers the thoughtful reflections of a widely travelled, caring intellectual in the 21st century.
He lives in France.
